CSM [OP Rumbling Duck] - Ducks can fly too

Thu, Jan 14, 2021.
As part of MK84's Duck Season, this operation challenged the operator's ability to perform HALO jump without GPS navigation device in nighttime. Without those, it all depends on the coordination and communication of the each squad leader to safety guide and bring their unit to the correct LZ (Landing Zone). The distance between the Drop Zone and Landing Zone was 3KM with the jump altitude at 7KM. If they overshoot the LZ, they may land near enemy patrol and get spotted, wasting critical time. Luckily thanks to operation was lead by many Veterans, thus everyone was able to land on the marking accurately.

-OPERATION DETAILS-
Situation:
Separatist forces have set up an anti-ship cruise missile site at a disused SAM site south of the Virolahti region. From there they have the capability to deny access to the gulf shipping lanes and poses a major threat to the NATO ships in the area. A special forces team from the British SAS have been tasked to infiltrate and disable the cruise missiles before they can be used.

Mission:
SAS squadron ADDER will infiltrate the AO via HALO jump and destroy the missiles before they are operational. However before the missiles can be safely be destroyed, the missile uplinks must be disabled to prevent their built-in failsafe systems from triggering an automatic launch. A missile technician have been assigned to the team for such task. Once the mission is complete, the team will exfil via boats to HMS Agamemnon.

Objective:
- Disable the missile uplinks.
- Destroy missile launchers.
- Recover any actionable intel from the base.
- Exfil to the boat by 0700 HRS Local.

Status: Completed, Success.
